 Let me explain...

Here I was, enjoying a bit of down time

exploring places I'd not had time to explore yet

minding my own beeswax

when all of a sudden...

I knew I had done the unthinkable!

I fell for a phishing trap!

I'd always thought I was way too smart

to fall for that kind of thing

but alas...

I wasn't.

And I had to act fast!

Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!

I had my bank shut down my account and open a new one...took my laptop to Office Depot to deep clean...had my ISP change my IP address...reset passwords and settings for just everything...

FASTER! FASTER!

 DAY AFTER DAY!

 and...I'm back up and running!

 Whew!!

But, all's well that ends well

and I'm all well and made good again

Be careful out there...

...the hoodlers are very clever!

Have a safe weekend, y'all!

    1. In the end, nothing left to do is laugh at it all...once the adrenaline level subsides...

  2. Well BBC, I've been in your shoes a few times. I worked technology for the local school district for twenty years. It seemed like every kid in the HS and some at MS wanted to prove their hacker skills and mess things up. Fortunately we had a pretty good strong team and most (definitely not all) attempts were thwarted before they got serious. Then we got a new superintendent...you can read about his type in just about any news source lately. He directed relaxing the controls and fired our boss when he said that was a bad idea. 3 of the six workers (all of the network savvy ones) walked out with him. That was two years ago, I got a call from my old boss who'd gotten a call from a school board member saying the network had been down for over a year and could he come straighten it out. He called me shortly thereafter. We spent a long time on the phone laughing. He then went and talked to the Sup who said he wanted a couple of weeks to look into the problem. We'll see what happens next.

    But...It won't be cheap!
