Granny The Orca Matriarch Dies

January 3, 2017

The oldest southern resident orca known in the Puget Sound region has likely died. “Granny” is officially missing from her pod and considered dead, according to the Center for Whale Research. Granny had been seen in the waters around Puget Sound for over 40 years and was estimated to be between 75 and 105 years old — her exact age unknown because she was born long before studies of the orca population began

  1. Imagine my shock when I read that Granny had died? Upon further reading it became clear to me that Granny was an Orca.
What a relief, as I am feeling well and quite content with life.
They are beautiful animals, but deadly. We are learning more about our fellow creatures and are the better for it.

    1. Know what? ...I thought of this after I'd posted it and shut down for the day, Granny.
